The Cedarburg Strawberry Festival is has been around for more than 25 years already. This 2-day annual celebration occurs during summer just in time for the harvest of strawberries. This year, Cedarburg is already catering its 26th festival on the 25th and 26th of June. Last year, over 100,000 people from different places have visited the Cedarburg Strawberry Festival and enjoyed the sweet and delightful tastes of free strawberries. This is considered a family oriented celebration that is visited by many people of all walks of life.
One of the known farms is the city is the Schmit’s Berry Farm that is the producer of many mouth watering strawberries that are made into favorite festival delicacies such as the Strawberry Brat, Strawberry Pie, Strawberry Shortcake, Strawberry Slush, Strawberry Crepe, Strawberry Schaum Torte, Strawberry Ice Cream and Chocolate-Covered Strawberries. Aside from this, strawberries are also made into popular wines such as the Cedar Creek Winery’s Strawberry Blush Wine. On Sunday, the Cedar Creek Settlement merchants also serve Morning Strawberry pancakes from 8:00 to 11:00 am, which is accompanied by great outdoor music.
Many festival visitors can also enjoy the wonderful Washington Avenue wherein the Strawberry Festival’s Arts are seen. This includes the Cedarburg Cultural Center’s Fine Art Fair, the Cedar Creek Settlement’s Arts Fair and the Ozaukee Adult & Youth Divisions. During Saturday, registered artists are able to participate in Quick Paint Competition of the Historic District. This 9 block district is on the National register of Historic Places with a lot of unique restaurants and fascinating shops that helps in boosting the Cedarburg’s tourism Appeal.
While the live bands are playing all day long, food booths are also located everywhere. Contests such as strawberry Shortcake Eating, Strawberry Bubblegum Blowing and the Berry Bob can also be enjoyed. Aside from this, Kids can also have great fun while visiting the Cedar Creek Park that offers daily rides such as carousels as well as food vendors and other sorts of entertainment.
