But it was not until a United States aviator named Jimmie Angel that this waterfall came into the consciousness of people outside Venezuela. It was said that Jimmie Angel was flying over the place when his plane landed on a mountain. It was then that he noticed a magnificent waterfall. To honor him, the waterfall was named after the American pilot.
The falls earned the title as the highest waterfall in the world because of its height and foot plunge. The height totals 3212 feet and 2648 foot plunge from the top of a mesa or Tepui as what the natives call it. As such, it is known as the highest uninterrupted waterfall in the world. Angel falls originates from the Auyan-Tepui plateau in La Gran Sabona, and located on one of the tributaries of the river Rio Caroni.

This falls is one of the most visited tourist spots in Venezuela. Unfortunately, going to the place is not easy; visitors can have the option to take an aerial trip over the area. However, when the weather is cloudy, it is difficult to see the falls. Alternatively, tourists can take a plane ride from Caracas to Cainama camp. From the camp, river trips to the base of the falls can be taken. June to December is the best months to visit the place.
