How to Remove Yellow Armpit Stains?

You are wearing your favorite white shirt. It’s comfortable. And it makes you look neat and proper, except for one thing. There are yellow armpit stains in your shirt. So what to do with your favorite shirt? There is no way that you’ll be wearing it with the stains on it. Maybe, you should just throw it away? Get rid of it and buy a new shirt? Well, that seems to be the easiest way to get rid of a yellow-armpit-stained shirt. Just throw it out and get a new one. But it’s not very practical. You can’t just throw every shirt that has armpit stains on it. There’s no need to worry. Here are some ways on how to remove yellow armpit stains.

There many different ways of removing yellow armpit stains. The method to use highly depends on the type of cloth and on the severity of the stain. The simplest way to get rid of stains, and that includes yellow armpit stains, is to wash your clothes properly. You may not just be doing enough scrubbing and that’s why there are still those yellow armpit stains. And when you wash, wash your garments with cold water. Avoid exposing them to heat. Heat will only set the stain. So, don’t use dryers that use heat. Air dry your clothes until the stain is gone. If your clothing is of natural fiber, exposing it to some sunlight would also help remove the stain. Also, avoid bleaching your clothes. You might think of bleaching your white shirts with chlorine, but that is a very bad idea. The chlorine will react with the proteins in the sweat. This will just darken the stain.

If simply washing it well and air drying the garment won’t work, here is another way to remove that dreadful stain. All you need is some baking soda. Mix about 4 tablespoons of baking soda with a quarter cup of water. Then apply the mixture on the stained armpits. Scrub it using an old toothbrush or a fingernail brush. Leave it for about an hour before washing and drying it. Again, don’t use hot water or high heat in washing and drying your garment. If the stain still shows, repeat the process.

You could also use a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. Mix the two together with some water to form a paste-like mixture. Then scrub it like in using plain baking soda. If you don’t have any baking soda, using plain hydrogen peroxide would also work. Another would be to soak the garment in pure white vinegar. Mixing some vodka and water, then spraying it would also do the trick.

There are many ways to remove that unwanted yellow armpit stain. And you could find the things you need just around the house. No need to buy a new shirt every time. But the best way would be to avoid staining them. Try using some deodorant or anti-antiperspirant that does not contain aluminum. You’ll save yourself from the hectic washing and embarrassment.
